Storm
J. Wilkinson
Every time I turn it on, the troubles of the world turn me out
Bleeding love like the saddest song, leaving me despair and doubt
I keep some distance between those eyes and mine, so I can get through the day
Easy to do when I’ve got skies of blue, but now the storm is heading our way
Where do we run to, when paradise is burning
Scorching the hills of the home I used to know
How can we hold on, with the flood water rising
Where do we go now, that the storm has reached our shore
Every time I turn it on, the people of this world turn me out
Trouble comes and they stand so strong, voices raised with a single shout
I know we’ll get through this darkest night, we can weather any storm
What’ll we do with tomorrow’s light, how can we build a better home?
Where do we run to, when paradise is burning
Scorching the hills of the home I used to know
How can we hold on, with the flood water rising
Where do we go now, that the storm has reached our shore
If we gonna rise, we gotta rise together
If we gonna dream, we gotta dream it bigger
If we gonna live, we gotta live together
Pick up the pieces and build something worth living in, oh yeah
Pick up the pieces and build something worth living in, oh yeah
Where do we run to, when paradise is burning
Scorching the hills of the home I used to know
How can we hold on, with the flood water rising
Where do we go now, that the storm has reached our shore
Where do we go now, that the storm has reached our shore

All it Takes is Time

All it Takes is Time
J.Wilkinson
The sun is sinking down between us
Casting her light on the shore
Leaves burn like fire, and dance like desire
My heart is yearning for more
The wind it cools as the shadows
Reclaim the river that was lost
My mind floats like a cottonwood ghost
As I wait for my lover to cross
I need love, love, love, like a river
Flowing between your heart and mine
How far it goes, nobody knows
But all it takes is time
All it takes is time
The canyon walls rise steep between us
The river cut them deep in the land
You stand on your side, and I stand on mine
Like the river is a line in the sand
I would swim out to meet you
You would do the same
It might carry us away, how far I could not say
But I hear it call my name
I need love, love, love, like a river
Flowing between your heart and mine
How far it goes, nobody knows
But all it takes is time
All it takes is time
Ooh, ooh ooh ooh, ooh ooh ooh
Ooh, ooh ooh ooh, ooh ooh ooh
I need love, love, love, like a river
Flowing between your heart and mine
How far it goes, nobody knows
But all it takes is time
All it takes is time

Hollywood Angel

Hollywood Angel
J. Wilkinson & D. Barrozo
She was just 21 when she first pulled up in this city
Dust on her boots and stars shining bright in her eyes
She took the bus to the end of the line
Ended up under the Hollywood sign
Free from that town, free to live with no compromise
Daddy don’t you weep for your Hollywood angel
She’s not the first, and she’s not the last of her kind
She’s seen the dust and the rust of that glittering goldmine
But it still looks like heaven, out there on Sunset and Vine
Oh, times have changed since she first gave it all to this city
Now there’s a hitch in her voice, and a crack in her smile
The stages she played on, have all been torn down
You can’t recognize what they done to this town
She sings on the street, but the Angel can do it with style
Daddy don’t you weep for your Hollywood angel
She’s not the first, and she’s not the last of her kind
She’s seen the dust and the rust of that glittering goldmine
But it still looks like heaven, out there on Sunset and Vine
She would sing, that Hollywood Angel
She would give, her voice to the world
She’s still the girl, who ran straight to the ocean
Danced with the dolphins and drifted along with the tide
The old folks back home didn’t see her for years
Mama cried a five-gallon bucket of tears
She’s out with the freaks and the dreamers, and doin alright
Daddy don’t you weep for your Hollywood angel
She might not be a star, but that girl never wasted her time
Now she’s out on the run, a victim of low expectations
But it still looks like heaven, out there on Sunset and Vine

Soar

Soar
J. Wilkinson & D. Barrozo
Got no wings to leave the ground, so I’m waiting on a windy day
Spread my arms, and catch it right, and my troubles gonna fall away
All my second chances will be waiting for me
Standing behind the horizon line, like a lovin that could carry me
I wanna soar, I wanna soar
I keep on pushing forward, like I got somewhere to go
The spirit is willing, but the body is slow
So I walk out on the wire, take a breath and let it go
Woke up this morning, said my luck is gonna change today
Bought my ticket and packed my bags, but the train had just pulled away
Hung out a while at the station, but that party was a state away
Guess my lucky break will just have to wait another day
I wanna soar, I wanna soar
I keep on pushing forward, like I got somewhere to go
The spirit is willing, but the body is slow
But I walk out on the wire, take a breath and let it go
I’ll fly high
I’ll fly high
I’ll fly high
At least I’ll give it a try
I wanna soar, I wanna soar
My feet are getting lighter, my toes lift off the floor
I can see the sunlight comin, like the crack under the door
Leave my cares behind me now, Yeah I’m gonna soar

Wayfarer's Son

Wayfarer’s Son
J.Wilkinson
When I was young, I longed to wander
Far from everything I’d known
So I hopped a train, goin West through the plains
And there I met a wayfarer’s son
He told me of his life,
And the places he would go
I knew right then I’d be his wife
And he’d keep me with silver and gold
The wayfarer’s son he kept his word
And our days were sweet and fine
He could build anything, and he loved to hear me sing
And I never questioned his mind
But one day I wandered far
And couldn’t believe what I’d seen
The land was sick and the sky was thick
And only my house was green
No, No No, No, No, No, No, No No No
The wayfarer’s son he laughed at me
Said how do you like it now?
I gave you everything you ever asked of me
And you never asked me how
I’m leaving here before long
Now I see the damage you’ve done
The land and the seas and the fish and the trees
Are better then your hole in the ground
I’ll be leavin here before long
Though you have flown me around the sun
Cause I cannot carry the weight of your world
Not even for a wayfarer’s son
No, No No, No, No, No, No, No No No
I’ll be leavin here before long
Cause I see the damage you’ve done
And I cannot carry the weight of your world
Not even for a wayfarer’s son
Not even for a wayfarer’s son

Trouble
J. Wilkinson
He’s got a roll in his walk like he wanna get caught
And his eyes slide around the room
He’s got a devilish face you mighta seen someplace
You take a second glance, too soon
He’s comin this way fingers stroking a glass
And his eyes are fixed on you
Something tells me he’s a snake with no heart to break
I hate to break it to you
If it walks, and it talks like trouble
And it smells, and he tells you he’s trouble
He’s ain’t misunderstood, deep inside he ain’t a little bit good
There’s just one thing I know, it’s trouble
In that little black dress and red shoes tonight
Little sister, you’re dressed to kill
If you’re looking for trouble you gonna find it alright
But you’ll get more then a thrill
That man will take you for everything you are
And leave you begging just to give him more
You better think twice before you name your price
Turn around and head for the door
If it walks, and it talks like trouble
And it smells, and he tells you he’s trouble
He’s ain’t misunderstood, deep inside he ain’t a little bit good
There’s just one thing I know, it’s trouble
I wish I couldn’t tell you this story so well
But I knew a man who looked like Jesus
Who was straight from the gates of Hell
Trust me you don’t want none of this
Find a sweet little boy in the corner to kiss
Just let trouble walk on by
If it walks, and it talks like trouble
And it smells, and he tells you he’s trouble
He’s ain’t misunderstood, deep inside he ain’t a little bit good
There’s just one thing I know, it’s trouble
And if it looks like trouble then it’s probably so
And there goes trouble

Broken

Broken
J. Wilkinson, D. Barrozo
I’m a girl
With a heart of glass
It’s scratched, chipped and broken
But it’s made to last
You’re a boy
With a heart of gold
You want to fix me up again
And make me whole, but
Just let me be, broken
If you are my friend
Every scar is a souvenir
Of the places I have been
Here I am
An open door
Maybe you just don’t know
What you’re looking for
Take my hand
Look in my eyes
I’m the one who loves you
And I’m wearing no disguise, So
Just let me be, broken
If you are my friend
Every scar is a souvenir
Of the places I have been
When I’m shattered
That’s where the light comes through
When I’m scattered
I find pieces of the truth
My heart is bursting open
For the love of a man
Take it all or nothing
Accept me for who I am, or just
Let me be, broken
If you are my friend
Every scar is a souvenir
Of the places I have been
Every scar is a souvenir
And I know who I am

Where We Belong

Where We Belong
J. Wilkinson & D. Barrozo
Good morning lover
Can’t believe today’s the day
Two hearts together
Bound by the vows that we’ll say
As we stand before the preacher
I know mama’s gonna cry
But it’s not about today for me
It’s the rest of our lives
We’ll build a house
And build it strong
Fill it with dreams and love and memories
To last our whole lives long
And when the golden sun is setting
And the kids are grown and gone
There’ll be this house
Where we belong
Can you see the front porch
Where we can watch the rain
Sweet summer mornings
When we don’t have to do a thing
In the back we’ll have a garden patch
Where seeds of love are sown
This little house don’t look like much
But it’s our very own
We’ll build a house
And build it strong
Fill it with dreams and love and memories
To last our whole lives long
And when the golden sun is setting
And the kids are grown and gone
There’ll be this house
Where we belong
And when the wind rages
At our door
We’ll be stronger
Then we ever were before
They can shake the world
Like the branches of a tree
But the roots of our house are strong
Like our family
We’ll build a house
And build it strong
Fill it with dreams and love and memories
To last our whole lives long
And when the golden sun is setting
And the kids are grown and gone
There’ll be this house
Where we belong

Don't Wanna Talk About
03:56
|

Don’t Wanna Talk About
J.Wilkinson
A choir of angels, pulls me from my sleep
I poke my head outside, see the birds in the trees
Somebody tell them, it’s only six in the morning
But something pulls me outside to see
The flowers are blooming, dew sparkles the green
The sky an impossible blue like you’ve never seen
A feeling comes over me, and a love fills my soul
Like the sweetest song I heard somewhere before
So I don’t wanna talk about, don’t wanna talk about Jesus
I’ve been singing ‘bout him all day
I don’t wanna talk about, don’t wanna talk about Jesus
A song in my heart is how I pray
I pick up my shovel, and drop to my knees
I work the soil deep and plant my seeds
I hear the church bells ringing, they’re calling the faithful to pray
With my hands in the dirt, I can’t tear myself away
So I don’t wanna talk about, don’t wanna talk about Jesus
I’ve been living with him all day
I don’t wanna talk about, don’t wanna shout about Jesus
A tool in my hand is how I pray
The love in my heart, and the bird on the wing
And the way that we start, at such a beautiful thing
And your hand that’s in mine, on the path that’s ahead
And the way that we fall, and the way that we’re led
And the truth that I know, and the love that we’re shown
For the gift of today, is how I pray
So I don’t wanna talk about, don’t wanna talk about Jesus
I’ve been singing ‘bout him all day
So I don’t wanna talk about, don’t wanna shout about Jesus
A song in my heart
Is how I pray

Mama Bird
J. Wilkinson
Mama bird, bird, bird, where will you go
Mama bird, bird, hear you singing so low
Your babies are crying, but so is the sky
Mama bird never needs to ask why
Mama bird, bird, bird, where will you go
Mama bird, bird, hear you singing so low
Life is a hunger, the beat of a heart
A needing so simple, how could love be so hard
Mama bird, bird, bird, where will you go
Mama bird, bird, hear you singing so low
She’s cryin’, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh
Singin’, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh
Cryin’, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh
Singin’, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh
The young they grow, and take to the sky
Learn what they need to know, and go
Mama bird, bird, bird, your babes have all flown
But here in my garden, you still have a home
We’re singin’ like, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh
Cryin’, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh
Singin’, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh
Cryin’, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh
